Ripe puer (or shou puer) is a type of puer tea from Yunnan province in China. Unlike raw puer, ripe puer goes under a rapid fermentation process. The leaves go through a wet piling phase where the raw leaf material is moistened with water and allowed to ferment. This results in a much darker and typically very smooth tea. Ripe puer is usually pressed into cakes, disc, and other shapes like raw puer.
