Our Autumn Leaves Hojicha is a roasted green tea from Shizuoka Prefecture in Japan. Hojicha is a green tea that has been roasted for some time. This turns the leaves into a beautiful caramel/autumn leaf color and produces a distinct flavor. A lot of the caffeine is naturally removed when the tea is roasted, which makes this tea a popular evening/night time tea.
Autumn Leaves Hojicha was roasted long enough to develop some nice flavor but not long enough for the roasted flavors to overpower the tea. The aroma is a familiar coffee house roast smell. The tea has a toasty taste with chocolate, caramel, and some nutty notes.
Each packet contains 100 grams of tea.
- Use around 4-6 grams per 200 mL (7 oz)
- Use water that is just below boiling around 90˚C (195˚F)
- 60 seconds per steep
- Steep up to 3 times (or more)
These brewing instructions are just guidelines. If you like your tea stronger; feel free to add more leaves, brew with hotter water, or steep for a longer time. Same goes if you like your tea lighter. I generally like to increase steeping times slightly after each steep. Everyone's taste, teaware, and water is different so use these guidelines to find what works best for you! :)
